| Great group of girls I met at the Brightline event! Loved networking! |
Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and all the other social media platforms are probably just now calming down from all the hashtagging, quoting and comment paraphrasing of the awesome panelists from Social Media Week!! I have never tweeted and photo uploaded so much in my life and my poor little Android religiously lost power half way through most of my events so just imagine the damage thousands of fully powered iPhones moving at full speed did this week! So a little background into why I decided to burn the candle at both ends and rip #SMWDC-I have spent the better half of the past few months sitting on my computer until all hours of the night scouring job ads and hitting the "apply now" button with no results. So I decided if my dream job won't come to me, then I shall come to it! My heavy event schedule began on Tuesday and I didn't come up for air until the wee hours of Friday night! #SMWDC was awesome, it left me full of valueable information and feeling very plugged in!

The next event on my schedule was "Get Your Brand On: How Social Media Is Changing Our Identities" and that it is, because this event reminded me of being the shy girl in class who never raised her hand for fear of drawing attention. For the shy souls this event had a live Twitter stream going crazy with questions from all the shy peeps in the crowd and the very fashionably dressed moderator, Eric Schulze answered those questions well, sometimes dropping the "F" bomb for emphasis-my kinda session! Yea social media is def in full effect y'all and here to stay!!

Next up was probably one of the most informational packed sessions of the whole week and bonus-located in scenic Georgetown! This session called "Get Smart! Make Better Social Media Decisions Through Analytics" hosted by Dan Soschin of American Public University System was like taking a college course with that cool, fun professor that blurts out things like "The next time someone asks you what's the ROI (return on investment) on that, you get in their face and say I don't know what's the ROI on your mom?!" Like what? That woke the room up and got us laughing and of course Twitter on fire with that one statement! There was a point to that comment and it did go somewhere that made perfect sense. Anyway great session and I've got tons of work to do with this event alone!
 |
| And I'll take any excuse to spend the day in Georgetown! So gorgeous! |
 |
| Social@Ogilvy put on a great panel opening with shots of brandy in those cute blue cups and deep talks from the likes of Mitch Gelman of Gannett and Mark Coatney of Tumblr on how "The Rise of the Visual Web" is changing how we deliver and receive media content! |
My favorite quote from Mitch Gelman of Gannett:

| Closing party at Malmaison in Georgetown! |
Next year my goal is to do #SMW in any of the following cities: New York, San Francisco (my hometown so shouldn't be too hard) or drumrolllll....London!! I know a bit of a stretch, but we'll see, it'll be my second go round in London if I can pull it off!
FABULOUS blog
