Cowl Neck Sorta Day

Today was rainy and super romantic.  I love the rain, it's my excuse to slow it down a few paces, think, dream and reminisce.  I mean really how much can you really get done on a rainy day?  We did go out however, and my husband treated me to a free day!  He took the boys and let me spend some leisure time shopping and trying on cute spring swag (which I scored an adorable spring dress and skirt yay!) all the things I can't do with a 3 year old and almost 2 year old in tow.  Rewind to this morning and as I'm standing in my closet trying to decide what to wear, this pic that I ran across on a fellow fashion bloggers site thetrendfile.com kept running through my mind and it became my fashion inspiration for the day!

I absolutely love her cowl neck sweater, the black is ridiculous!!

My black cowl neck, The Gap

I love standing in the rain! I'm also wearing my Aztec Cape from Urban Outfitters and my bubblicious rain boots from Target, I blogged about recently.  My jeans are also skinnies from The Gap!

Makeup simple and sweet! MAC Carbon Eyeshadow, NARS Mata Hari Blush and MAC Loverlorn Lipstick
As you can see beauties, I am keeping my word when I promised to rock the upcoming spring trend in makeup and that's bright color on the lips and I'm loving the bravado and audacity of it all!!

Stay Beautiful Beauties!!

Life Goes On

This was just a typical day in my neighborhood:)!  Was feeling like paying homage to a lyrical genius, so decided to rock out some Tupac with a vintage flair!

The cardi sweater I found during one of my thrift store hunts.  It's definitely a mid-80's throwback. The hot zebra print purse was compliments of Victoria'sSecret.com and I just recently rocked it for the CapFABB Soiree

The sunglasses and chain necklace are a vintage find as well! Gotta luv vintage!!

I got the Pac shirt from none other than Target-damn I love that place like a fat kid loves cake!!

My makeup was very simple, it's a "daytime smoky eye" and only one color, MAC Hocus Pocus eyeshadow, was  used on my eyelid and underneath as liner.  On cheeks my fave, NARS Mata Hari blush and Merry Mistress MAC lipstick.

The boots are Nine West and jeans are J.Crew...Boom!

CapFABB Soiree

I had a blast a few nights ago partying it up with the CapFABB (Capitol Area Fashion & Beauty Bloggers) crew to ring in the organization's one year anniversary! I'm a newbie to the group and was a bit nervous about attending the event solo dolo, but I lucked up on a new friend while parking my car, Kristin of the wonderful lifestyle blog HandbagsHairandHeels.blogspot.com and so we walked in together.  She was so super cool and we made a night of it! We enjoyed a night of white, raspberry sangrias, amazingly silly picture booth photos, a gorgeous floral station filled with DIY crafts (I made a very bedazzled headband:) and networking! Check out the fun, fresh pics!

My entire outfit is vintage! My shoes are Nine West!
My lovely zebra purse is from Victoria'sSecret.com!
The white sangria's were Awesome!!
Me and Kristin (she's wearing her floral creations!)
The H. Bloom floral station.  We had a blast creating pretty swag!

Check out my creation,  my bedazzled headband!!
Makeup was Fab!! Eyes: MAC Graphito Paint & MAC Knight Divine; Cheeks: MAC Dollymix Lips: MAC Lovelorn Nails: Wet n'Wild Lavendar Creme

The photo booth was sooo fun and cool!!

10 Crash Course Lessons of Mommyhood

So before I became a mother I had all these misconceptions of what motherhood would really be like.   I was convinced that I would still have complete and total control of each waking day, now I laugh at that thought! LOL  That saying "No one or nothing can prepare you for parenthood until you actually become a parent..." is hella true!! So here's to some Real lessons mommyhood has taught me!!

1. The human body can really exist on no sleep, none. I have completely mastered the art of sleeping while awake.

2. Civil, quiet, adult dinnertime will never exist again. In it's place-picky, messy eaters who throw food, forks, spoons, knives (plastic heeeheee), spill water, milk, juice or any liquid in reaching distance, then cries hysterically just to add a little sugar to the party, oh and breaks their adorable animal plate mommy got special from Pottery Barn kids...tear.

3. I will almost sell my soul for a quiet leisurely bathroom break alone, that doesn't involve a visitor, a pounding fist on the door, or a wailing cry to be included in...yep bathroom time.

4. I love the car.  I am only expected and required to keep the car on the road, not chase after anyone, change a diaper, feed, break up a fight or search for the lastest lost toy...just keep the car running in a straight line and the dreamy thing about that is I can do it all while completing a straight coherent thought...bliss. Yes, I love the car.

5. Potty training trains parents that your child will go to the potty when he's good and damn ready...not before, so keep the treats coming and the diapers close...#fail.

6. Never, ever, ever, ever leave the house without a change of clothes..ever.  Enuf said.

Apparently Golden Gate Park added a children's mud pit in my years of absence.  No, I did not have a change of clothes this day...#EPICFAIL.

7.  I have taken multi-tasking to new heights.  I'm a multi-tasking Ba-oss.

8. Hand sanitizer and a great hand lotion has become my best friend.  Alternately, being a germaphobe has led to many a "vomit in the mouth" moments. You wouldn't believe the things children deem to be toys or food.

9. Motivation to be better at freakin everything I do.  Never cared much about perfection until I had little ones looking to me for their mold in life.

10. Unconditional, pure, infinite love.  Enuf said.

Spring Bling: Makeup Trends

Ok ladies let's talk hot makeup trends for spring!! There are sooo many Fab colors, looks, styles and shades, I mean it's really exciting but a bit overwhelming if you don't know what your looking for.  I don't want you mamis spending moolah on the wrong makeup swag, so I'm going to break down exactly what you should be shopping for to achieve the perfect spring bling!

These wonderful looks were all over NYFW (New York Fashion Week) so trust you are getting it from the source!

#1 Bright Lips Rock

This is one I will have to really wrap my hands around, because I'm a lipgloss girl at heart and tread very carefully when it comes to shocking color on the lips, but these looks are gorge, so I promise I will do better!  To get these pretty pink and red pouts, try: Urban Decay Super Saturated High Gloss in Adrenaline or YSL Rouge Pur Coutoure in Soft Fuschia.  Reds are a great color on any complexion, you just have to test, test, test until you find the right fit.  A definite must try is NARS Semi-Matte Red Lizard. I love it because it's a semi-matte so not too dry and the red is true pop!

#2 Glorious Glowing Skin

I love glowing skin and while the best way to achieve this look is through a healthy, well rounded diet, we makeup artists have some tricks around that when in a time crunch.  A great product to add some extra glow and shine to the skin is NARS Skin Illuminator in Orgasm, O.M.G. this stuff is cray (in my best Kanye West voice:), it's totally gorgeous and has a natural highlight to it that can wake up any face!! MAC's Strobe  Cream is also another go-to for the face glow, I've been using it for years!

#3 Smoky Eyes

A lover of all things smoky eye, this one is near and dear to my heart!! This look was done by NARS makeup artist James Kaliardos backstage at NYFW! He used a newly released color by NARS Dark Rite Soft Touch Shadow Pencil and Night Flight Single Eyeshadow and to add a little sparkle Tropic NARS.  I've got to get my hands on these colors!! To learn how to do your own smoky eye, take a look at my makeup tutorial here.

#4 Happy Cheeks :)

A warm, peachy cheek is what's on deck for spring.  Nothing too serious, you can leave the shimmer and the glitter at home,  just a nice, natural glow for cheeks is all spring is calling for!  Right now NARS has my heart in the blush department, hands down they have it! I've been rocking Mata Hari lately and I'm eyeing Dolce Vita and TorridZen was used on the model in the middle! Sweet huh?!

Ok ladies, so there you have it, some super gorgeous looks to get you ready for spring.  Do any of these looks appeal to you and if so which ones?  Holla!

Love At First Sight

My hubby and I celebrated Valentine's Day a little early on the 11th!  We wanted to channel our pre-baby days and go out and party the night away, so that's what we did!  I chose to set the night off with a Beer and Wine Festival at this great brewery/restaurant that make their beers in house from scratch.  So we started there, ordering beers with weird names, but it was all good and we had a blast!

Mad Fox Brewing Company

From there we decided the night was still young and a little tipsy from the 11% alcohol in the those homemade beers we headed to an after hours spot for more yummy libations!  Our first choice was this cute, little dive bar in DC, but they were closed for a government party, so with the temps dropping and the snow falling, we ran into a swanky spot called the 901 Bar & Restaurant.  This place was uber gorgeous between the beautiful chandelier balls that changed color on the ceiling to the menus that activated to a spotlight when you opened them-I was in love with the ambiance of the evening and of course with my date!!:)

And what kind of fashion blogger would I be without a quick photo shoot of my V-Day look, yes in 20 degree weather!

Since this was our first real winter cold, I decided to dress for the weather, cute but definitely warm! The sweater is H&M, the skirt I got from Alloy.com, the lime green peacoat is from Piperlime and the boots hold special meaning to me, because they welcomed me to the world of fashion during my first ever trip to NYC years ago, love them! They're a cross between a cowgirl and platform boot all wrapped into one!!  Oh and the purse is vintage Coach.

My makeup look was compliments of my Sultry Smoky Eye tutorial.  The colors used were Hyacinth Blue Eye Kohl Pencil MAC as a base on my lids.  Pretty Twisted Eyeshadow MAC and Plumage Eyeshadow MAC in my crease and also as a eyeliner.  On my cheeks, Mata Hari by NARS and lips Philosophy Lip Shine Sweet Talk!

I hope your Valentine's Day was special and spent with those you love! <3

Sweet, Sexy, Seductive Scents For V-Day

Girls, we love to pull out all the stops for Valentine's Day right? Whether you're wooing that new crush or showing that special someone how important they are to you we put meticulous effort into putting together a hot outfit, getting that perfect mani/pedi and taking a trip to Vicky's for the purrrfect undie secrets! But sometimes we miss one thing though...the sweet seduction of scent!

Instead of wearing the same perfume you wear everyday or every special occassion, switch it up a bit!! Here are some of my favorite picks to spray on the pulse points to get your V-Day poppin!!

Victoria Secret's Bombshell In Love Eau De Parfum is super sexy! It's a nice floral with a mix of sandalwood, which gives it a warm, flirty vibe. Great pick for love day! Available at Victoria's Secret, $49.

FlowerBomb by Vicktor & Rolf is so very feminine and it really lasts! I was browsing Sephora and sprayed this gorgeous scent on my wrist and after a few hours I could still smell it! This is another floral with a mix of freesia bloom, jasmine and patchouli-it's yummy! Available at Sephora, $25-$125.

I have been wearing Tresor by Lancome for forever now and they recently launched a new scent just in time for V-Day and it is really sensual!! It's called Midnight Rose and it's a limited edition so snag it while you can! This one is great for my girls that like a heavier scent, it's a nice balance of wood, musk and florals. Available at Lancome counters, $55-$80.

Jo Malone's fragrance line is in one word...delightful! I don't think I've come across one scent yet that I don't like. The Red Roses Cologne collection smells of crushed roses and violets, it's very clean and perfect of course for my lovies! Available at Jo Malone, $55-$110.

Now for my beauties trying to bring Valentine's Day in right, but on a budget! Here are some great scents for under $30!

Hands down my favorite Bath & Body Works scent, I raved about the lotion in a previous post! I use the lotion by itself and get tons of compliments! It's a very warm smell with hints of amber, musk and vanilla. Available at Bath & Body Works, $29.50.

This is usually my summer scent, but I've been wearing it through this unusually warm winter and it's a definite keeper! This scent actually turned me onto the vanillas, I used to think the vanilla scent was too soft to really draw attention, but not this one! It's vanilla with a mix of brown sugar... it's hot! Available at Bath & Body Works, $26.50.

A definite treat, the Coach Poppy Duo Rollerball! This fragrance is just sweet! I love it! A blend of jasmine, gardenia, cucumber and rose petals this bottle of romance fits right in your purse or clutch for easy touch-ups later on! Available at Coach stores, $22.

There will be more V-Day posts to follow so stay tuned!! Thanks so much for following me and please join if you haven't already!! <3
